about
Gold Plated is a story of a character who wishes so feverishly to be immortalised that his eyes harden to stained glass and his fingers turn into spires. His wish is granted and he is transformed into a church and has only the tourists for company. Its a chiming, vine overgrown dream made up of layers of vocals and delayed guitars
lyrics
Gold Plated
but always underneath
I couldn't fake it
Oh, you crooked jewellers
You won't get much
Agate
Would you recognise it
In the daybreak
Oh, no clever lighting
To exaggerate your view
Held your palm up to the sky
And watched it crystallise!
Fingertips became a spire
All rusted in the evening light
Shoulders started sloping down
And drew the rain away from you
Wistful eyes became stained glass
In lovely light of green and blue
Faintly
Ice is forming slowly
On the still parts
So I try to move my heart
Even though
Weigh me
The mattress doesn't sink since things got empty
And oh so ordinary
How we break in two
You started bowing low and then
Your bones became the walls
Drew a gasp and closed the doors
And soon after silence falls
Watch the vines climb high and wild
And now, until you're out of view
Standing proud and now the tourists
They can come and visit you
